Admission to Academic Examinations
Submit your final assignment via Fénix.
This feature does not apply to confidential work. Such work must be delivered in person to the Postgraduate Studies Area.
Documentation to be submitted
Application for admission to doctoral examinations;
Declaration of availability in the University of Lisbon repository;
Opinion(s) of the supervisor(s) on the conformity of the thesis to be submitted for examination (on letterhead of the institution where they work);
Thesis (provisional version), saved in PDF format;
Curriculum Vitae, saved in PDF format.
At the same time, the student may have to submit copies of the thesis and Curriculum Vitae to the Department for the members of the Jury, as indicated by the Doctorate Coordinator.
In situations where it is necessary to ensure the confidentiality of the thesis, the procedure defined in the respective regulations must be followed.

Fees
Examination admission fee of €250.
The fee must be paid on the day of submission/delivery of the final assignment, preferably via ATM reference, available on Fénix (payment method for submissions via Fénix).
Presentation
The thesis presentation must comply with the rules set out in the Regulations for the Study Cycle leading to a Doctorate in SCIENCES.

Deadlines
Submission of the provisional version
During the registration period, i.e. 5 years, which cannot be extended.
Submission of the final version
The student has 30 working days after the exams or after confirmation of the conformity of the reformulation (if any).
At this point, they must submit:
1 hard copy of the thesis (final document). The cover and title page must follow the thesis template (final document);
1 Curriculum Vitae (hard copy);
1 digital copy containing a file of the thesis (final document) and another of the Curriculum Vitae, both saved in PDF format.
Reformulation
If a thesis reformulation is proposed, the student has 120 working days, which cannot be extended, to proceed accordingly, unless they declare that they do not intend to do so.
At the end of this period, if the student does not submit the revised thesis or declare that they wish to maintain the work presented, it will be considered that they have decided not to continue with their doctoral studies, and their enrolment will be cancelled.
