Assessment

FCUL Assessment Regulations contain the concepts, rules and regulations regarding assessment, attendance regime and status and assessment modalities (ongoing, periodic, by means of examinations or tests and final exam).

The final assessment consists of a written in loco examination, subject to registration during the examination periods at the end of the academic semester. The exam includes all taught material. 

 

1st Examination Period (regular) and 2nd Examination Period (supplementary)

During the examination periods there are, for each course unit taught in the previous semester, two exam dates corresponding to the two examination periods. The dates of the regular and supplementary periods must have a time interval of at least 10 days. All students may take an exam on both dates.

To be admitted to the examination, students have to register online until 12 am of the working day immediately prior to the examination date as set in the Examination Calendar

 

Resit Exams

Students my resit exams in the same year they were enrolled in the course unit or in the following academic year, and may resit the exam only once. For those who passed the exam during the 1st examination period, the 2nd examination period is for grade improvement. In this case no registration is required.

Taking a resit exam in the following academic year requires previous registration and the payment of a fee for each examination as listed in the Fee List.

 

Special Examination Period

Students enjoying special status may take exams during the special examination period, which takes place at the end of the academic year.

According to Ordinance D/33/2013, 1st Cycle, Integrated Master's and 2nd Cycle students who need to complete a maximum of two course units to finish their degree (BSc/MSc) or complete their master's programme may also take exams during the special examination period.

Taking an examination during the special period requires previous registration and the payment of a fee for each examination as listed in the Fee List.
