1st Cycle (Bachelor and Integrated Master Degree)

Application Period for 2018/2019:

First period:
Applications: 01st February – 23rd March 2018
Affixation of selection results: 16th April 2018
Deposit payment in the amount of € 500.00 must be made until 5 working days after publication of the results
Affixation of places left: until 08th May 2018

Second period:
Applications: 09th May – 27th June 2018
Affixation of selection results: 16th July 2018
Deposit payment in the amount of € 500.00 must be made until 2 working days after publication of the results
Affixation of places left: until 06th August 2018

Third period:
Applications: 07th August – 07th September 2018
Affixation of selection results: 14th September 2018

Admission:
Those that may apply for enrolment and registration in 1st cycle of studies (Bachelor and Integrated Master degrees) at Faculdade de Ciências must be:

a)  Holders of a certificate that confirms their right to apply and be admitted into higher education in the country which it was obtained;
b)  Holders of a Portuguese secondary education diploma or the legal equivalent, as defined by legislation (Portaria nº 224/2006, de 8 de março and Portaria nº 699/2006, de 12 de julho);
c)  Students that are currently enrolled or have been enrolled and registered in an international institution of higher education, in a course defined as higher by legislation of the country in question, but who have not yet obtained a certificate of higher education and students who have been admitted as international students in higher education in Portugal (Reingresso e Mudança de Par Instituição/Curso).

 

Application Conditions:

In order to apply for a Bachelor or a Integrated Master degree at Faculdade de Ciências, international students must demonstrate, cumulatively:

a) Having achieved an academic qualification in the areas of knowledge/expertise required by the course for which they are applying for (applicants must consult the specific access conditions, or equivalent, required for the course they are applying for - available on the page of each course in " Admission Requirements" - Admission Exams);
b) Having the required level of Portuguese language in order to attend that cycle of studies:

  • Attendance in a cycle of studies (Bachelor or Integrated Master degree) demands an independent understanding of the Portuguese language (B2 level, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages);
  • International candidates who have an elementary or intermediate level of the Portuguese language (B1 level, according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages) may apply as long as they commit themselves to attend an annual Portuguese language and cultural course.

2nd Cycle

1st period of applications: 6th June - 14th July 2017
2nd period of applications: 18th August – 31st August 2017

In order to apply for a Master Degree, the international student must have:

  • 1st Cycle Degree concluded, or legal equivalence;
  • Holder of a foreign academic Degree conferred after concluding a 1st Cycle Degree of studies, organized according to the Bologna Process, by a Member State adhering to this process;
  • Holder of a foreign academic Degree that is recognized by the Scientific Board of the higher education institution for which they are applying for (this recognition must meet the purposes of a 1st Cycle Degree);
  • Holder of an academic, scientific or professional curriculum that is recognized as attesting the capacity to accomplish this cycle of studies by the Scientific Board of the higher education institution for which they are applying for.

Consider as legal equivalence to the degree of “Licenciatura (1st Cycle)” and Master (“Mestrado”), the equivalence and recognition of qualifications provided for in Decreto-Lei nº 283/83, 21 de junho and Decreto-Lei nº 341/2007, de 12 de outubro.

The validity of the referred degrees must be confirmed by the competent authority of the state from which the documents are originated. The Final Certificates/Diplomas must be certified by the Portuguese consular services or be presented with the Apostille (Hague Convention) by the competent authority of the state from which the documents are originated, and whenever they are not issued in Portuguese, English, French or Spanish, they must be translated into one of these languages.

In order to apply for a 2nd Cycle course, international students must demonstrate the knowledge and expertise required by the course for which they are applying for.

3rd Cycle/PhD 

1st period of applications: 3rd July - 14th August 2017
2nd period of applications: 1st December 2017 - 16th January 2018

In order to apply for a 3rd Cycle course/PhD “Doutoramentos” Degree, the international student must have:

  • Master “Mestrado” degree concluded or the legal equivalence or
  • “Licenciatura” degree or legal equivalence, holder of a relevant scholar or scientific curriculum vitae, that provides the competences required to be enrolled in the specialization area of the PhD programme.

Consider as legal equivalence to the degree of “Licenciatura” and “Mestrado” (Master), the equivalence and recognition of qualifications provided for in Decreto-Lei nº 283/83, 21 de junho and Decreto-Lei nº 341/2007, de 12 de outubro.

The validity of the referred degrees must be confirmed by the competent authority of the state from which the documents are originated.
