Admission

The admission process for these examinations starts at the request of the student through an application to FCUL Scientific Board. All needed documents must be presented and the information made available in the Postgraduate Studies Regulation must be taken into account.

At the delivery of the final work, the following conditions must be met:

  • Tuition fees fully paid;
  • Approved registration of dissertation / project work / internship report within a Master's programme and thesis or similar works within a PhD programme;
  • Approved applications (title or supervisor(s) alterations or writing of dissertation in English).

 

2nd Cycle

 

Fees

Examination admission fee 100.00Euros.

 

Documents

  • Application for admission to master's examinations;
  • Statement for addition to the collection of the University of Lisbon;
  • Supervisor(s)' statement on the conformity of the dissertation / project work / internship report to be submitted to examination (on letterhead of their institution);
  • 1 CD with the final work (working version) file and one more Curriculum Vitae (PDF files).

Note: copies of the dissertation / project work / internship report and Curriculum Vitae must be delivered to the Department to be handed to the Panel members, as directed by the Master's Programme Coordinator.

For a confidential dissertation / project work / internship report, specific regulation should be followed.

Reading of the document on Industrial Property and Technology Transfer Policy in Sciences - PhDs/ Masters in Companies (FCUL - May 2014) - is advised.

 

Layout

The final work layout should follow the Master Studies Regulation of the Faculty of Lisbon from University of Lisbon.

Deadlines

Delivery of the working version :

Master's Programmes of 120 ECTS - until the last working day of September.
Master's Programmes of 60 ECTS - until the last working day of February.

Delivery of the final version:

If approved, the student must deliver the final version until 7 days after the final work presentation. This version should incorporate the alterations discussed with the jury (if any). On that date, it should be  delivered:

  • 1 Copy of the final work (final version). The cover must follow the corresponding dissertation / project work / internship report (final version) template;
  • 1 Curriculum Vitae;
  • 1 CD with the final work (final version) file and one more Curriculum Vitae (PDF files).

 

Resubmission

If resubmission of the dissertation / project work / internship report is proposed, the student has 60 non-extendable working days to proceed accordingly, unless the student states its intention not to do so.

During the duration of the thesis registration, i.e. 5 years, non-extendable.

Delivery of the final thesis:

30 working days after completion of the examinations or after confirmation of conformity of resubmission (if applicable). 

On that date, it should be  delivered:

  • 3 Copy of the final thesis. The cover and first page must follow the thesis template (final document);
  • 3 Curriculum Vitae;
  • 2 CD with the final thesis file and one more Curriculum Vitae (PDF files).

 

Resubmission

If resubmission of the thesis is proposed, the student has 120 non-extendable working days to proceed accordingly, unless the student states their intention not to do so. 
After the deadline, if the thesis is not resubmitted nor a statement of intention to preserve the original submission is received, it will be deemed that the student does not wish to continue doctoral work and the registration will be annulled.
