The Portuguese Scientific Police detects a new synthetic drug in collaboration with BioISI researchers
The team lead by Helena Gaspar in collaboration with Alexandra Antunes (from the Centro de Química Estrutural at Instituto Superior Técnico) conducted the isolation, purification, and structural characterization of the new synthetic drug – N-desethyl-isotonitazene - by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) Spectroscopy.

Carlos Farinha obtained funding from the Italian Cystic Fibrosis Research Foundation (ICFRF) to understand the connections between the cell cytoskeleton and the cyclic Adenosine Monophosphate (cAMP) (a messenger molecule) communication pathway to find new opportunities to improve the current therapies.
